Guildford Cathedral

December 29th, 2007

Some shots of the cathedral and nearby University of Surrey.

Looking like a sort of amphitheatre enclosed by a wall, this is a view looking vertically up the side of the cathedral from within an arched recess.

Sculpture (University of Surrey).

Stained glass reflection on wall
(colours enhanced).

Security Camera (University of Surrey).

Alan Turing (University of Surrey).

“Seven joined in one”, motto of the Household Division
(referring to the seven regiments).

Electric blue

December 28th, 2007

Playing around in Paint Shop Pro I added a bit of drama to these shots of an electricity sub-station.

Range cat mod’s

December 26th, 2007

This has to be the most affectionate cat I’ve met. A regular visitor to the golf driving range, it goes from one mat to the next, rolling on its back waiting for a tummy rub. It makes it rather tricky to hit the golf balls without whacking the cat! Having my pocket camera with me, I resigned to just photographing it for a while. The shots were pretty mediocre so I played around with them in Paint Shop Pro. All except the first one are clickable.

To France

December 26th, 2007

Proving that the local council have a sense of humour. Taken on the seafront at Bognor Regis.

Useful graffiti

December 26th, 2007

If only all graffiti was this helpful! Taken at a temple in Thailand.

Relaxed hygiene

December 26th, 2007

This restaurant in Thailand had a somewhat relaxed approach to hygiene! (Or was this the “dish of the day”?)

Download their software and create your own photo book. Add captions, preface, choose the layout, front & back cover¬†etc. Then upload the completed book and order a¬†softback or hardback version. Prices are ridiculously cheap starting at $12.95 for a softback with up to 40 pages, for a single copy! Shipping (to the UK) cost me $7.90. Finish and binding was excellent quality on the 8×10 inch softback I ordered. I don’t know how they do it for the money! You can even sell the books via their site (but their “set your price” feature is only available in the US).

Photo videos with Animoto

December 25th, 2007

I was impressed with, a site that enables you to very easily create a dynamic video from your photos set to music. You can choose images from your computer or online from sites such as Flickr. Music can be chosen from a selection provided or uploaded. Once created the video can be saved to your computer or uploaded to video sharing sites such as YouTube (you can leave it hosted with Animoto but they place a watermark in the corner throughout the video).

It’s free to create a 30 second video, $3 for “full length” (determined by number of images) or $30 unlimited use for a year. Here’s a sample I created in minutes based on my shots from Thailand.
