England’s lost village
December 25th, 2007
Tyneham, Dorset. During the Second World War the inhabitants of this village were evicted, and the land taken over by the army who were expanding their firing ranges. The villagers were promised that they could return to their homes after the war had ended. The promise was never kept and to this day the area is still under military control. Most of the homes of the now deserted village have deteriorated over the years and today lie in ruins. More Tyneham photos here.
